One thing which has popped out in this lockdown is the Instagram live session. Cricketers around the globe have found this measure as the most meaningful one when it comes to staying connected with their fans.
Australian legendary wicket-keeper batsman Adam Gilchrist was the next to join the fray. This was the first time when the veteran wicket-keeper batsman was involved in a live session amid lockdown.
Gilchrist was involved in a live session with India’s sports and TV anchor Maddona Tixxy where the two talked about things under lockdown and took a trip down the memory lane as well, especially with Gilchrist’s time with the IPL.
After remembering some familiar scenes of his playing days, it was time for the Mad Rad segment of Live Connect with the Legend wherein he was asked to rate keepers according to their abilities. Here’s the video;
On being asked against which team he has enjoyed his rivalry the most, the veteran answered ‘India’. In the process, he recalled an incident when Harbhajan Singh used to say something absurd to him after taking his wicket. The 48-year old recalled those days and had a nostalgic smile.
When asked to rate among the following wicket-keeper batsmen i.e. Brendon McCullum, Mark Boucher, Kumar Sangakkara and MS Dhoni, Gilly was smart enough to pick MS Dhoni at the top followed by Sangakkara, Brendon McCullum and Mark Boucher.
While answering this question, Gilly knew the game and said;
“Look, it is gonna be Dhoni, my name is Gilly not silly! and I know I am talking to an Indian with a lot of Indian support, so yeah, it has to be Dhoni”
Both Dhoni and Adam Gilchrist are wold class players, but the cricket fans have always been eluded to see this talent playing alongside. In the IPL Dhoni has represented Chennai Super Kings and Rising Pune Supergiant, whereas, Adam Gilchrist has represented Kings XI Punjab and the now-defunct Deccan Chargers Hyderabad.
Both have been successful with their respective teams in the IPL but both playing together for one team is what every cricket fan would have hoped for at least once.
