Aakash Chopra is a prominent name when it comes to cricket expertise. The domestic cricket legend is now a cricket commentator who gives his opinion on various aspects of the game. Chopra is also very active on social media, and most of the time, he keeps fans engaged with his posts and sessions on Instagram and Twitter. With the IPL 2020 postponed to 15th April till further notice, Chopra is coming up with the top-5 series in the IPL history. This time Aakash has come up with the top-5 pace bowlers of all-time in the IPL history.
The list is going to surprise many as Aakash picked 3 Indian bowlers and only 2 overseas pace bowlers. While most of the franchises rely on the overseas pace bowlers, the list could surprise many.
Aakash chose Ashish Nehra over Zaheer Khan on the number 5. Chopra said Nehra had been under-rated through his IPL career. If you look at his numbers and the difficult overs he had bowled, then you would know the reason behind his selection.
At number 4, Chopra went with another Indian pacer- Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Bhuvi already had the ability to take wickets with the new ball. But he has emerged one of the best death bowlers in the world as well.
There were no surprises at number 3 as Dale Steyn found a place there. Steyn has been one of the most prolific pacers in the history of the tournament, with a brilliant economy rate of 6.77.
Despite a young career, Chopra selected Bumrah at number 2. Bumrah is the best death bowler in the world at the moment, and his inclusion won’t surprise many.
It was none other than Slinga Malinga at the number 1 position. He cited Malinga’s consistency over the years and his ability to perform under pressure as the reason to rank him as the top pace bowler of the all-time.
Aakash Chopra also stated the reason behind the exclusion of Mitchell Starc from the list. The former Indian international said the Aussie pacer had played only 2 seasons so far, and the sample size is too small to include him on the list.
