Former cricketer and Indian opener Wasim Jaffer has named his all-time ODI team on Saturday. The Mumbai-born cricketer selected 4 Indians on the list. Jaffer is the latest name in the list of the former cricketers who are coming with their respective all-time lists. These 4 Indians are Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and MS Dhoni. He also chose Dhoni to lead the side.
There were no surprises at number 1 as he picked ‘the God’ and the batsman ever to grace the game of cricket – Sachin Tendulkar. For the 2nd opening slot, he chose another Mumbaikar in Rohit Sharma. At number 3, Jaffer went with destructive Sir Vivian Richards and the current Indian skipper Virat Kohli made it at number 4. While Mr. 360 degree AB de Villiers made it to the number 5 position in the list, there was a surprise at number 6. Jaffer chose English all-rounder Ben Stokes for the all-rounder spot over the players like Jacques Kallis and Andrew Flintoff. Jaffer selected former Indian captain MS Dhoni as the captain and wicketkeeper of the side. In the pace bowling attack, Jaffer picked Wasim Akram from Pakistan, Joel Garner from West Indies, and Glenn McGrath from Australia. The former cricket chose either of Shane Warne from Australia or Saqlain Mushtaq from Pakistan as the lone spinner in the playing 11. He also added Ricky Ponting to the side as the 12th man. No Indian bowler made the cut in the Jaffer’s all-time ODI team.
While many fans would argue over the prominent names missing from the list, Jaffer tried to pick a balanced side.
