While many critics were already bashing Indian cricket superstars due to lack of initiative towards donating amid ongoing lockdown, Indian captain Virat Kohli has come forward to donate towards the PM relief fund.
The world is going through a crisis. The global pandemic Coronavirus has put a brake on the world’s speed and every country around the globe is battling in the crisis. India is no different in the situation as the nation is currently going on through the lockdown of 21 days. The lockdown is likely to be extended further beyond 21 days depending on the situation. Every event including sports in the country has been either canceled or postponed. Everyone around the country is staying inside their houses. This phenomenon has badly hit the underprivileged section of the society due to the lack of employment and resources. To battle that, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a PM-CARES Fund on the national level and Chief Minister Relief Fund on State level. Many celebrities have come ahead to donate to help the nation for the noble cause.
Fan-favorite and Indian skipper Virat Kohli has pledged alongside his wife Anushka Sharma towards PM-CARES fund and Chief Minister Relief Fund Maharashtra. He made this announcement on Monday the morning via an Instagram post. However, Virat Kohli hasn’t disclosed the amount he would be donating.
“Anushka and I are pledging our support towards PM-Cares Fund and Chief Minister Relief Fund (Maharashtra). Our hearts are breaking looking at the suffering of so many and we hope our contribution, in some way, helps easing the pain of our fellow citizens.”
Wrote Kohli in his post.
And if the sources are to be believed, Kohli and Anushka have jointly donated Rs 3 crore for the noble cause.
While the nation is battling the COVID-19, this gesture of the Indian captain and his wife would be appreciated as every contribution matters.
