The Chennai-based franchise had to fill only six slots with INR 31.4 crore in their purse. They made Shardul Thakur the first signing with a bargain price of INR 4 crore. They made another steal by signing Rachin Ravindra for a price of just INR 1.80 crore. However, CSK needed a solid middle-order batter to replace Ben Stokes and Ambati Rayudu; hence, they spent big on Daryl Mitchell as CSK shelled out INR 14 crore for the Kiwi all-rounder.
