The next South Group match will be contested between Sussex Sharks and Surrey at the County Ground in Hove. This would be the second game of the competition for Surrey, whereas, Sussex Sharks will be playing their first match of the season.
Surrey had a disappointing start to their season as they lost to Gloucestershire by a hefty margin of 147 runs. Batting first, Gloucestershire rode on Chris Dent and Gareth Roderick’s 75 and 74 runs respectively which helped them get to a competitive total of 235 runs. Rikki Clarke and Tom Curran were the pick of the bowlers as the duo scalped 7 wickets between them. The chase was never going to be easy as the pitch was deteriorating which aided the bowlers in the second innings. Daniel Worral, Chris Liddle and Thomas Smith shared 8 wickets between them which meant Surrey were bundled out for a mere 88 in just 24 overs.
With Sussex playing their opening game of the season, a winning start is what they would be aiming for and a win will definitely set the tone for them as the tournament progresses.
