India is the world-beaters in cricket at the moment. They have barely put forward a wrong foot. They just seem too much for each and every opposition they play with. India will continue to extend their domination across the world as well when they play their next series in New Zealand against Kiwis from January 24.
India’s home season started with a T20I series against the Proteas which ended in a draw and that was the only series in which the Indian captain had to share the trophy with the opposition captain. India brushed aside each and every series after that across formats that included Tests, ODIs, and T20Is against South Africa, West Indies, and Bangladesh. India capped off their home season in supreme style by beating the full strength Aussies that included their prime bowlers with the likes of Starc and Cummins and prime batsmen with the likes of Warner and Smith. India was utterly dominant and ruthless to say the least.
India has a few injury concerns to start with for their next series against the Kiwis. The Indian Vice captain’s favourite opening partner Shikhar Dhawan has fractured his shoulder and didn’t bat in the 3rd ODI after injuring himself while fielding at covers. The injury seems to be a serious one although the official confirmation about his state is yet to be revealed. The dynamic all-rounder Hardik Pandya is another one for whom the Indian team selection for the Tests and ODIs against New Zealand has been postponed as the selection committee is awaiting the confirmation about Hardik’s fitness from the NCA. The team which was supposed to be selected on Monday is now postponed citing Pandya’s availability.
India will be starting their gruelling overseas series against the Kiwis on Friday. India will play a full-fledged series that includes 5 T20Is, 3 ODIs, and 2 Tests. The Indian team that is selected for the T20I series will fly to New Zealand on Monday as the T20I series starts first on January 24th.
Meanwhile, India A is playing in New Zealand and started their series with 2 wins over New Zealand XI in the warm-up games. Prithvi Shaw, Krunal Pandya, Ishan Porel, Ruturaj Gaekwad were the star performers.
Virat Kohli (captain), Rohit Sharma (vice-captain), KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Yuzvendra Chahal, Manish Pandey, Shivam Dube, Jasprit Bumrah, Shardul Thakur, Rishabh Pant (wk), Kuldeep Yadav, Navdeep Saini, Washington Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami.
