The Royal One-Day Cup which started on April 17 has reached its semi-final stage now. The four teams who will be contesting for the 50-Overs One-Day domestic supremacy in England are Somerset, Nottinghamshire, Hampshire, and Lancashire.
The first semifinal will see Somerset going up against Nottinghamshire at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham, whereas, the second semi-final will witness a pulsating clash between Lancashire and the reigning champions Hampshire at the Rose Bowl in Southampton.
Talking about the quarterfinals, Somerset defeated Worcestershire Rapids in a one-sided affair by 147 runs. Batting first, Somerset on the back of a magnificent 112 from wicket-keeper Tom Banton managed a mammoth 337 on the board. In reply, the Rapids succumbed under pressure and kept losing wickets at regular intervals and ultimately were bowled out for 190 in 38 overs. Azhar Ali turned a surprise package with the ball scalping 5 wickets for 34 runs in 7 overs.
However, Nottinghamshire was already waiting in the semi-finals after they finished atop in the North Group with 6 wins from 8 matches and 13 points against their name.
