It is time for the Quarterfinals to take the center stage in the Royal One-Day Cup 2019. The four teams who have made it to this juncture of the competition are Worcestershire, Somerset, Middlesex and Lancashire.
The first quarter-final will take place between Worcestershire and Somerset and the match will be played at the New Road in Worcester which is the home turf for the Worcestershire Rapids. Somerset finished third in the South Group after winning 5 of their 8 encounters after losing their last three encounters against Gloucestershire, Middlesex and Hampshire. Three losses on the trot reduced them to the third position after being on the top of the pile of South Group for the majority of the season.
Worcestershire Rapids, on the other hand, finished second in the North Group after winning 6 and losing 2 out of 8 encounters. Their net run-rate was the best among all the other teams in their group but with Nottinghamshire involved in a no-result game meant that the Rapids finished second on the points table and set a date with Somerset in the first Quarter-finals.
