The Sophia Gardens in Cardiff will play the host for the next South Group game which will be contested between Somerset and Glamorgan. Somerset have started their campaign with a win, whereas Glamorgan after two defeats on the bounce would be eyeing their first win of the season.
Somerset’s opening game was against Kent where they displayed sheer domination by clinching the game by a whopping margin of 264 runs. Wicket-keeper Tom Banton’s swashbuckling 107 from 79 deliveries and Craig Overton’s late blitz (66* off 36) down the order powered them to a tempting score of 358 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 50 overs.
Craig Overton’s cameo with the bat paid dividends in the first innings, and he improvised his performance with a magical bowling spell of 5 for 18 from 7 overs. His efforts meant that Kent were bowled out for a mere 94 in 27 overs which helped Somerset register a massive 264 runs victory.
On the other hand, Glamorgan are yet to win a game in this season. After facing twin defeats at the hands of Essex Eagles and Hampshire by 180 runs and 7 wickets respectively, their confidence level has definitely shooked and they will need to recapture their lost glory before it gets too late.
