England Women gave no room to Sri Lankan Women and whitewashed them in the ODI’s with ease. Now, they are eyeing T20 series. Well, there were times when Sri Lankan women tried to get themselves back in the match, but clearly, English Women were a step head from them. After, a clean sweep in ODIs, England stepped down to conquer the shorter format, T20 and they proved themselves superior even here. English Women have won two T20 Internationals out of three.
Now, England would be looking forward to remaining unbeaten in the series and would want to win the last and 3rd T20 international against Sri Lanka Women. This fixture is scheduled to be played on 28th March at Sinhalese Sports Club, Colombo.
Sri Lanka:
Sri Lankans batting line up wasn’t able to deliver good cricket in the entire tour. Only, Captain Chaamri Athapaththu and Mendis gave a sense of relief from Sri Lankan side, but seem to throw away their wickets after a start. Else, other players literally gave up against English Bowlers.
There are plenty of players on Sri Lankan side, like Hasani Perera, Madavi, and Shashikala Siriwardene, who are capable of hitting long boundaries, but the complete batting line up is fragile and cannot be dependable on.
In the 2nd T20, having to opt bat first, Sri Lanka barely managed to reach a mini total of 108 runs in 20 over with 4 wickets in hand. It was captain Athapaththu, who clichéd maximum 24 runs off 30 balls, rest were disappointed like always.
Even Sri Lanka’s bowling is not fruitful, they lack in confidence and skills. They haven’t done anything magical so far. They need to be back on track and avail their wicket taking ability as soon as possible.
England:
After completely destroying Sri Lanka in ODI series, they were pretty much confident about the T20 clash. England women have been doing exceptionally well in the T20 format. Captain Heather Knight would want to win the 3rd T20 as well.
In the last T20 game, England came on to bat to jump the tiny total and they easily won the match in just 13.5 overs with 8 wickets in hand. D Wyatt and Amy Jones helped contributed 37 and 36 runs respectively and helped their team to win the T20 series against Sri Lanka.
Batting has never been a problem for English Women. Players like, Wyatt, Beaumont, Laura Marsh are an amazing hitter and are much superior to Sri Lankan side.
Coming to bowling attack, they are much better than Sri Lankan bowling line up. Kathrine Brunt is in amazing form and has been taking wickets consistently.
So, now let’s see can Sri Lanka at least win one match in this entire tour.
Match prediction: As it can be seen clearly that English Women had shown no mercy toward Sri Lankan women in the entire tour. So, there will be no surprises in the 3rd T20. England will again be seen dominating against Sri Lankan batsmen as well as bowlers.
