The second Warm-up match of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 will be played between South Africa and Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan team who won the coveted title back in 1996 in India are coming into this tournament with the tag of the underdogs.
However, they are coming into this contest after pummeling Scotland in the 2nd ODI which was their first ODI win since October 2018. This was a desperate win for Sri Lanka heading into the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
Meanwhile, South Africa who are often termed as the ‘chokers’ especially in the ICC events will head into the World Cup with high intensity. They had some bad memories of the semi-finals in the last edition where they got so close to the finals but again perished in the closing moments of the game. Both teams have already announced their 15-man squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
Sri Lanka have dropped former skipper Dinesh Chandimal and given the captaincy reigns to Dimuth Karunaratne who led Sri Lanka to a historic away Test series win over South Africa.
