SA vs ENG Dream11 Team Prediction | England vs South Africa ICC Cricket World Cup Preview

The title favourites and hosts England kickstart their ICC Cricket World Cup campaign against South Africa at Kennington Oval on Thursday. England have come a long way since the last edition of the competition and are now considered a real deal. The hosts have lost only one of their last 15 completed ODI matches at home.

South Africa will miss talismanic AB de Villiers but they have decent players in the ranks, with both the bat and ball, to get off to a winning start. In terms of preparation, South Africa have not played an ODI in over two months and some of their premier bowlers are either injured or are returning from injuries.

SA vs ENG Dream11 Team Prediction

Captain choices

  • Jason Roy is in the middle of a purple patch and comes up as a top-contender to outscore every other. 89 off just 46 against Afghanistan in warmup game plus 114, 76 and 87 against Pakistan earlier this month.
  • Quinton de Kock has a liking for English bowling. In eight ODIs against England, the wicket-keeper batsman has scored 463 runs at a staggering batting average of 66.14.
  • Joe Root gets overshadowed by the destructive batsmen around him, although he is a great value. Root has amassed 477 runs in 9 games against South Africa, including two 100+ and one 50+ score.
  • Jos Buttler is next AB de Villiers, so effective down the order. Buttler has accumulated 715 runs in 22 outings since the start of 2018

X-factors

  • Kagiso Rabada is one of the best bowlers around. Rabada strikes every 24.6 balls against England and has scalped 16 wickets in seven ODIs against the English.
  • Jonny Bairstow is another who is capable of doing irreparable damage. Since the start of 2019, the English opener has scored 211 runs at a striking average of 70.33.
