Things are looking positive for the Chennai Super Kings ahead of their first match against Mumbai Indians. As per reports their young top-order batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad, who was tested positive for COVID-19 two weeks before had now completely recovered and has tested negative.
As per reports coming in Ruturaj Gaikwad has tested negative for COVID-19. But he won’t be available for selection in the tournament opener against Mumbai. He is still to get a clearance from the medical staff to start training. It is reported that he will have to undergo a few more tests to get back to training.
He along with Deepak Chahar was tested positive for the coronavirus just weeks before the IPL. The incident created a lot of questions regarding the staging of the tournament and the safety of the player’s bio-bubble. It also led to some of the prominent players, both Indian and overseas pulling out of the league citing personal reasons. Deepak Chahar got back to training a few days back after he was tested negative on a couple of occasions. Ruturaj on the other hand tested positive in the second test as well. But this negative result in the third test is expected to bring joy to him and the entire CSK team.
Brett Lee names world’s most dangerous batsman
The much-awaited thirteenth edition of the Indian Premier League will get underway today at 7:30 PM IST at Abu Dhabi. Both teams look strong on paper and a neck to neck encounter is expected. Large grounds and the spin-friendly nature of the pitch are expected to assist spinners more than the pacers. Hence the chances for a high scoring encounter seem very less. MI is well settled and will start the tournament as favourites. CSK on the other hand has too many selection headaches. The confusion is regarding whether to persist with Tahir or whether to bring in Faf Du Plesis to have more depth to the batting. Dwayne Bravo’s niggle is also an area of concern for MS Dhoni, in that case, young Sam Curran may replace him.
