MS Dhoni was one of the handful of players who didn’t had the icon player status at the 2008 auction as there wasn’t any franchise based out of his native like Sourav Ganguly for Kolkata Knight Riders or Yuvraj Dingh for Punjab or Sachin Tendulkar for Mumbai Indians who all didn’t even make the auction table as they were signed by their home franchise before the auction.
