If there is one cricketer in the world for whom breaking records is like having bread and butter then it has to be the superman from India Virat Kohli. He goes past each and every record in the book to sit at the top of the list. Now he is up to another record which will make him to go past the world cup winning captain MS Dhoni
Highest runs by a captain in T20Is
The skipper Virat Kohli has missed many T20I series as part of work load management for India through the course of 2019 but still he is just 25 runs away from surpassing his predecessor Dhoni to become highest run getter as a captain for India in the T20I format. Virat is in the 4th spot behind the former captain MS Dhoni with 1087 runs. MS Dhoni has 1112 runs holding the 3rd spot. The former Proteas skipper Faf is leading the list with 1273 runs with Kane Williamson following suite with 1148 runs.
Eoin Morgan’s record under threat
Virat Kohli can also potentially break the record of most half centuries by a captain if he scores one more half century. Virat Kohli currently has 8 half centuries as captain and tied with Kane Williamson and Faf du Plessis who also tend to have 8 half centuries as the captain. Virat Kohli can become only the 2nd skipper to hit 50 maximums in the T20Is. The world cup defending captain Eoin Morgan was the first to hit 50 sixes as captain . Virat is just seven maximums away from joining Eoin Morgan in the list
India completely outplayed the Kiwis in both the T20Is so far. With 3rd T20I slated to happen in different venue in Hamilton, the Blackcaps will be hoping for a change of fortunes.
Hamilton is set to host the 3rd T20I on Wednesday
