Not everyone gets a chance to represent their nation in a world cup event. India with a population of 1.3 billion people selected 15 people to send to England to bring home the world cup. India did well against every opposition barring England in the round robin stage and progressed comfortably to the semi finals.
Ravindra Jadeja who was also a part of the 2015 world cup semi final loss to Australia in Australia was looking to make amends in 2019. He did a terrific job with ball restricting the kiwi batters and finished with figures of one for 34 in his 10 overs.
He then put up a valiant effort with the bat in hand scoring a brilliant 77 off 54 alongside MS Dhoni who played second fiddle and looked to take the game deep. In the end after Ravindra Jadeja and Mahendra Singh Dhoni were dismissed India fell short by 18runs in a heart-breaking manner.
In his Instagram post, he wrote –“ We try our best but still fall short sometimes. One of the saddest days!”
New Zealand had posted only a modest 239 runs on the board and the only way they could dream of winning was by taking wickets of the famed Indian top order. All the top 3 were in excellent form with main man Rohit Sharma scoring as many as 5 centuries in 9 games.

What the world then witnessed was one of the most epic batting collapse one could imagine. India had only lost 3 wickets under 10 runs while chasing only once in their history before and then it happened again on the world cup semi final day. They were reduced to 5-3 and then 92-6 until Ravindra Jadeja rescued the team.
