After two mouthwatering contests, both Pakistan and England will march into the fourth ODI of the series which will be played at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham. One more win and England will claim the 5-match series as they are already 2-0 up after three matches.
Just like the second ODI, the third ODI also saw a bulk of runs scored and once again it was England who had the last laugh at the end of the match. Batting first, Pakistan posted a mammoth 358 for the loss of 9 wickets in 50 overs. Opener Imam-ul-Haq registered his 6th ODI hundred and went onto score a fabulous 151 from 131 deliveries. Apart from Imam, Asif Ali scored a brilliant 52 off 43 deliveries which included 2 fours and 3 sixes.
England’s unbelievable chase was led by their openers Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow who stitched a brilliant 159 runs stand in just 17.3 overs. Roy scored 76 off just 55 deliveries which included 8 fours and 4 sixes, whereas Jonny scored his 8th ODI hundred in his 56th innings. His swashbuckling innings of 128 runs from 93 deliveries included 15 fours and 5 sixes.
The formation set by the openers made it east for the middle-order to break free as they completed the chase in 44.5 overs with 6 wickets to spare. It was a sheer dominating effort from the English batters which will help them to walk into this game with a lot of confidence.
