The era that is dominated by hostile and intimidating fast bowlers, these two finger spinners ,Ravi Ashwin and Nathan Lyon, have etched their names in the history of cricket with their astute skills. Aakash Chopra reckons Lyon does well in alien conditions!

Nathan Lyon is one of the mainstays of the Australian spin attack after the departure of Shane Warne. He has 390 scalps in 96 test matches and for a finger spinner who is based out of Australia to have such a record speaks a lot about the off spinner. Here’s what Aakash Chopra said when he had to make a choice between Ashwin and Lyon

I am going with Nathan Lyon, especially in the recent past. It is because I like a couple of things about Nathan Lyon. Firstly, I like his body action. He puts the body behind the delivery. He gets good bounce. And in conditions where the pitch is not tailor-made for spin, there also he does very well.

The opener who has represented India in 10 tests further added that Ravichandran Ashwin is miles ahead of the Australian counterpart when it comes to spin friendly conditions.

If you play Ashwin and Lyon in spin-friendly conditions, say in India, Ashwin will be miles ahead. And he will take wickets quickly and consistently against any opposition team.

Aakash Chopra heaps praise on Nathan Lyon

Australia is one of the toughest places for a spinner and to have the kind of superior record that Lyon has behind him is what makes him stand apart from the rest of his peers. The popular commentator in Aakash Chopra said,

But Nathan Lyon on good surfaces like South Africa, England or Australia, since he is born and bred in Australia, he knows how to put the body behind the ball. He is also friendly with the Kookaburra ball, so the revs on the ball and all of that, Nathan Lyon does that more
