The greatest party in cricket, the Caribbean Premier League is all spiced up as it reaches the conclusion of its first week. During the seventh match of the tournament between St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and St Lucia Zouks, St. Lucia fielder Najibullah Zadran grabbed a one-handed screamer to dismiss St Kitts and Nevis Patriots opening batsman Chris Lynn, thereby completing the catch of the tournament.

Najibullah Zadran takes an outstanding catch

Athleticism is synonymous with Caribbean Premier League, over the years the tournament had seen many incredible fielding performances. The latest to the list is Najibullah Zadran, who took a screamer to dismiss the dangerous Chris Lynn. The incident happened in the last ball of the third over, where Chris Lynn miscued a wide-off delivery from Zouks all-rounder Mohammad Nabi, thereby ending up pulling a short ball.

Zadran, who was stationed at square leg, showed great reflex and dived in the air to grab an outstanding catch. It is to be noted that this is by far the best fielding display in this Caribbean Premier League.

Patriots fall behind in the run chase

Patriots captain Ryad Emrit won the toss and chose to field. Batting first, Zouks finished their innings on 172 for 6, courtesy of a fighting 46 from wicket-keeper batsman Andre Fletcher. Chasing this high score considering the CPL standards, the Patriots’ trump-card and explosive opening batsman Lynn departed early after scoring 14 runs. Right from thereon they never looked in line to complete the chase. Except for a fighting 46 runs from the wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Ramdin, the rest of the Patriots’ batting unit fell prey to Zouks’s bowling. Pace bowler Scott Kuggeleijn led the bowling charts with 4 wickets as spinners Roston Chase and Mohammad Nabi restricted the flow of runs from the other end. Patriots ended their chase on 162-8 thereby falling 10 runs short of the required target.
