South African wicket keeper batsman Quinton de Kock is having a good time at the IPL with the Mumbai Indians this season. He’s especially had a magnificent second half of the tournament where he’s shone with both bat and the gloves. It was yet another good day at the ground for him in match number 51 against the Delhi Capitals.
IPL 2020: SRH all-rounder ruled out for the rest of the season
The fulcrum of the Delhi Capitals batting unit Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant were batting in the middle. A steady partnership was being built although they weren’t going in a great pace, it was a sort of calm before the storm that everyone could sense was coming. But the Mumbai Indians were too good to let that happen. MI skipper Kieron Pollard brought in his lead leggie Rahul Chahar and it was fruitful in the first over itself.
Rishabh Pant was struggling to time the ball and wasn’t very fluent in his innings. Captain Shreyas Iyer on the other hand was also having a modest strike rate of around 100 and wanted to up the ante. He went for a big hoic which he often connects but the dip and spin of the leg break of Rahul Chahar was too much for him as the ball spun past the outside edge.

In the process of going for the big one, Shreyas Iyer’s back leg slightly lifted from the ground and that was enough for Quinton de Kock who whipped the bails in a flash after collecting the ball. It was truly a brilliant piece of glove work one that indian fans would associate with the likes of MS Dhoni.
After the departure of Shreyas Iyer the responsibility laid on the shoulders of young Rishabh Pant and Marcus Stoinis. But none of the batsmen got going and it was a collapse of entire middle and lower order to end up with a poor 110 runs on the board at the end of 20 overs.
From 50-2 in 10 overs Shreyas Iyer , Marcus Stoinis, Rishabh Pant, Harshal Patel, Shimron Hetmyer all fell within the 15th to totally derail the Delhi capitals batting.
