Only two matches will be played on Thursday, i.e. April 25th and both will be the South Group games. The first match of the day will be played at the Kennington Oval in London and the two teams locking horns here will be Surrey and Middlesex.
This would be the 4th match of the competition for both teams, Middlesex, after winning 2 and losing 1 from 3 games, are placed at the fifth position on the South Group points table, whereas, Surrey, after winning 1 and losing 2 from the same number of matches are placed on the seventh position.
Surrey’s only win came against Essex in their previous game which was played at this very venue by 65 runs. Skipper Rory Burns (55 off 59) and wicket-keeper Ben Foakes propelled Surrey to a fighting total of 278 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. While defending the total, Morne Morkel and Liam Plunkett led the way for Surrey by scalping 4 for 23 from 8 overs and 4 for 50 from 8.5 overs respectively. The duo bowled in tandem and didn’t let Essex’s batting line-up settle down and eventually they were bundled out for 213 on the board.
Middlesex, on the other hand, have won 2 games on the trot against Essex Eagles by 38 runs and Gloucestershire by 6 wickets. However, they lost their previous encounter to the reigning champions Hampshire by 119. This was their only loss in the season so far and they would not want this loss to hamper their preparations for the next game.
