Kings XI Punjab’s major strength is their opening pair of KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal as these two have scored 222 and 221 runs in just 3 matches respectively and both also have one hundred each so they’re in great form and once again will look to provide good start. In the last match Nicholas Pooran also played a nice cameo and that innings will boost his morale while the likes of Maxwell, Karun Nair and Sarfraz Khan didn’t get enough chances but they too will be eager to show their talent. In the bowling the pair of Sheldon Cottrell and Mohammad Shami have done well and they will be the key with new ball and in the spin young Ravi Bishnoi and Murugan Ashwin have been impressive so far.
On the other hand, Mumbai Indians’ major strength is their batting depth as they have batting until number 8 and the likes of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan and Kieron Pollard have played good knocks and they all have the fire power to score big runs. In the bowling Trent Boult is doing fine job with the new ball while James Pattinson too has been good and in the middle and death overs Jasprit Bumrah is the key. In spin department Rahul Chahar and Krunal Pandya have to lead.
Weaknesses :
Kings XI Punjab’s weakness is their lower order as they don’t have any finisher and Maxwell too hasn’t looked in good touch so someone like Nicholas Pooran should be given this role and young Sarfraz Khan too has to show his potential. In the bowling they got smashed in the last match but one match’s poor performance shouldn’t affect them and they have to bounce back against a strong team like Mumbai.
Mumbai Indians don’t have any major weakness but the poor form of Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya is concern for them as Hardik has failed to cross 20 runs mark in the first three matches and Krunal Pandya is struggling with ball and wicket keeper Quinton de Kock too hasn’t been at his best and he needs to give good start. In the bowling Rahul Chahar needs to restrict opposition batsmen in the middle overs while Jasprit Bumrah needs to work on his yorkers and James Pattinson should work on his line and length.
