Kings XI Punjab’s strength is their batting line up of KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Glenn Maxwell and Nicholas Pooran who all are good batsmen of this format and pace bowling attack of Mohammed Shami, Chris Jordan and Sheldon Cottrell. Although in the first match except Mayank other batsmen disappointed but they will be eager to bounce back and in the bowling Sheldon Cottrell and Shami were outstanding and they will look to continue their good form. Debutant Ravi Bishnoi impressed with his leg spin and he will be crucial in middle overs.
On the other hand, Royal Challengers Bangalore’ strength is also their batting line up of star players like Kohli, AB de Villier, Aaron Finch etc. Debutant Devdutt Padikkal showed his potential with a fifty and with Finch he will have to give good start. Although they need to make their decisions better as Josh Phillipe who is a top order batsmen batted at six and it’ll be better for them if he bats at five. In the bowling they have a world class spinner in Chahal who showed his class with a three wickets haul against Hyderabad, Navdeep Saini too did bowl very well.
Weaknesses :
Kings XI Punjab’s weakness is the absence of a batsman who can anchor the innings. Maxwell, Pooran and KL Rahul all bat with attacking approach and it might put them in trouble like first match and they also need a pacer who can take wickets in the middle overs and Chris Jordan’s inconsistency is also a concern for them.
On the other hand, Royal Challengers Bangalore’s biggest weakness is their bowling as Umesh Yadav and Dale Steyn were poor with new ball and leaked a lot of runs and apart from Navdeep Saini they don’t have any other good bowler who can bowl well in death overs as Chris Morris is injured and Shivam Dube needs to improve his finishing skills.
