The iconic Kennington Oval in London will witness a clash between the South Group bottom placed teams i.e. Surrey and the runners-up of the last season Kent Spitfires. This has been a nightmare of a season for the Kent Spitfires who haven’t registered a single win thus far in this competition.
Surrey are also sailing on the same ship after just one win from five encounters. Both Sussex and Kent have lost their opportunities to finish among the top three from this group which means they will not proceed further in the knockouts stages.
Surrey’s only win this season came against the Essex Eagles by 65 runs which was their third match of the season. Wicket-keeper batsmen Ben Foakes 82 off 88 was the one who led the foundation of a formidable 278 which prove more than enough for their bowlers to defend. Morne Morkel and Liam Plunkett accumulated 8 wickets between them to hand Surrey their first and only win of the season.
With this game being as good as a dead-rubber, the results of this match won’t hinder the position of any of the teams on the points table.
