Runner’s up of last time out in Japan will be playing their first game in the FIFA Women’s World Cup as they take on Argentina on Monday.
Japan were outclassed by USA in that final in 2015, and since then their form has only degraded. They are in the 7th spot in the FIFA Women’s Ranking and hold the mantle for Asia’s footballing pedigree. The side this time out is rather inexperienced, but fiercely talented as well. It will be interesting to see how they fair here.
Meanwhile, Argentina Women are in the 37th place in the ranking and haven’t had a similar level of success to that of their male counterparts. They do have some good players in their roster, and with some experience in their favour, it will be an important tournament for them to prove themselves to be an elite side in international football.
