Star CSK batsman Suresh Raina had earlier pulled out of the thirteenth edition of the Indian Premier League citing personal reasons. Even though the exact reason for his backing out is still not known, there were speculations that he might make a return to the tournament during its last phase, as he hinted a possibility of the same during his last interview with Cricbuzz. But since the current situation is a completely new scenario, the BCCI had made it clear that Raina’s decision to return to the IPL, may not solely rest with him and the board will have a larger say in those decisions that concern the whole tournament.
The CSK fans all around the world were shocked beyond words when their star batsman and Dhoni’s deputy in charge Suresh Raina announced that he will be opting out of the IPL due to personal reasons. Ever since then, a number of theories have surfaced on social media platforms regarding the exact reason for his sudden decision. The most prominent one among that was he is returning back to support his family during the difficult times (His uncle was murdered in Pathankot). The other theory claimed that there was some rift between Dhoni and him regarding the accommodation provided by the CSK.
But Raina completely denied all these claims in his interview with Cricbuzz and added that he left UAE due to personal reasons, and he felt that the bio bubble was not secure. He added that he felt the need to not to take risks as he had a very young family.
“When the bio-bubble is not safe how does one take a chance? I have a family with two little kids and elderly parents,” he had said.
He also hinted about his possible return to the tournament in the later stages.
“I’ve been training even while quarantining here. You never know you might see me in the camp there again.”

As per reports, Raina cannot return to the IPL as per his wish. The BCCI officials had made it clear that they have to first find out the exact reason for his backing. And if the reason is connected with something related to depression, then he will have to take a counseling session before he is taken back.
“What the BCCI will have to do is evaluate what exactly were the reasons. If it’s about his family, it’s his personal reason. If it was a rift with MS (Dhoni), then it’s CSK’s internal issue. If he came back because of depression, then it’s a mental issue. We can’t let him go if he’s depressed. Who’ll be responsible if something goes wrong? a BCCI official said.
The BCCI had done an extensive amount of work to run this mega tournament in time, and its quite sure that Raina won’t be allowed to return back when he thinks straightaway.
