Ireland-W and Bangladesh-W will play out the three matches T20I series in Ireland. This series will serve as a precursor to the World Cup Qualifiers which will be played sometime later in the month. The series of three matches will be over by 1st July and the first match was played yesterday.
The Asian champions Bangladesh registered a thrilling last-ball win over Ireland in the first T20I match. Jahanara Alam was the star with her incredible bowling figures of 5/28. She cleaned up the opening pair and slashed through the middle order. Tul Khubra and Salma Khatun bowled economically. Nigar Sultana (46) and Fahima Khatun (26) then sealed the chase with four wickets remaining.
Playing in the home conditions and against an opposition that is more comparable to their strength, Ireland put up an impressive show. After early setbacks, the middle order rallied around. Isobel Joyce top-scored with 41 and was supported by Lewis, Delany and Garth. With the ball, Richardson and Lewis picked two wickets and kept Ireland alive in the game.
