India vs West Indies: Rohit Sharma has rewritten the record books with outstanding innings of 159 runs from 138 balls in 2nd ODI at Vishakhapatnam. The outstanding 227 runs partnership between him and Rahul was the 4th highest for India in ODI’s.
Rohit now has the most 150+ scores in ODIs. He has eight of them whereas the second in that list David Warner has 6. With that, he now holds the record for the highest individual score for India in ODI’s in each calendar year for the 7th consecutive year starting from 2013.
Rohit Sharma became the first batsman to hit 75 sixes in a calendar year beating his own record of 74 sixes from 2018. In terms of sixes hit he also broke MS Dhoni’s record of most sixes hit in International games in India. Rohit has now hit 187 sixes in his 116 innings compared to MSD’s 186 sixes in 2018 innings.
Rohit Sharma is also 4th in the list of most hundreds as an opener with 26 hundreds behind only to Sachin Tendulkar(45), Sanath Jayasuriya(28), HashimAmla(27). With this feat, the right-hander equalled the record of most hundreds hit in a decade with Hashim Amla both having 26 hundred each.
His knock today helped him to become only the 4th Indian player to score 10+ international hundreds in a calendar year. Rohit averages more than 50 in 8 years of this decade which is the most by any player, second in this list is Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers.
Having been part of seven 100+ opening stands in 2019 in ODI’s alone, highest by any player he now has scored 1300+ runs this year and has overtaken Kohli for the record of most runs in ODI’s this year.
With one more ODI to come in this series, Rohit will be eyeing to break some more records this year.
