India’s former opening batsman in Aakash Chopra has asked for India’s leading leg spinner in white ball cricket to be included in the test side.
India played Shahbaz Nadeem in the first test along with the 2 offies in Ravichandran Ashwin and Washington Sundar but it didn’t end well. The inexperienced spinners were dealt with rather easily by the England batsmen which reduced the impact of Ravichandran Ashwin in the game as he had no proper spin partner to maintain the pressure at the other end.
As India have lost the game, several experts are voicing out their opinions which sounds odd to say the least. The latest expert to voice out his opinion is Aakash Chopra who in his recent tweet said that Yuzvendra Chahal need to play in the 3rd game against England.

Slightly left-field thought/suggestion….India should look to add Yuzi Chahal in the Test squad ASAP. Considering that the bio-bubble protocols will take time….try to make him available for the third Test. #IndvEng
Though, Yuzvendra Chahal is one of the world’s best wrist spinners in white ball cricket, his exploits in red ball at the Ranji Trophy level are not inspiring. He has picked just 84 wickets in 31 games at an average of over 33 which says a lot of things about Yuzvendra Chahal- The bowler in the longer format.
Yuzvendra Chahal thrives on batsmen taking chances against him which fetches him wickets in white ball cricket but in tests, a bowler cannot succeed without a proper stock ball and batsmen can milk him around for easy runs without taking much risks which makes a bowler like Yuzvendra Chahal less impactful in tests.
