After the first encounter of the New Year got washed out in Guwahati, all the eyes are glued to the Holkar Stadium in Indore which promises for a cracking game on Tuesday evening. While the flat pitch and shorter boundaries guarantee a run-fest in Indore, there’s one more thing the fans will be eagerly waiting for i.e. Jasprit Bumrah’s comeback. India’s ace pacer, Bumrah, was out of the ground for a couple of months owing to an injury and will be making his comeback in this match.
Undoubtedly, Bumrah is India’s first choice wicket-taking bowler and who knows it better than Sri Lanka’s captain Lasith Malinga who shares the Mumbai Indian’s dressing room with him. However, Lasith Malinga has a game plan to nullify Bumrah’s effect in the upcoming matches.
Here’s what Malinga said for Bumrah –
“He (Bumrah) is the number one bowler in the world. He has got skills and accuracy. But he is coming after an injury and didn’t play much cricket in the past few months. Most of the bowlers struggle to get their rhythm for the first few matches (after making a comeback). We want to get that advantage to us.”
Jasprit Bumrah and Lasith Malinga play for Mumbai Indians in the IPL and share a very close bond. A couple of days ago, Bumrah revealed how Malinga taught him to tackle different situations on the field.
Malinga further added-
“I’m really happy for Bumrah, he is doing well for his country. He’s my teammate. He’s their wicket-taking bowler. I can pass on the information about his attitude and bowling skills. But our batsmen will have to be smart enough to handle him.”
The third and final T20I will be played at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on January 10, Friday.
