The Indian veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh who is currently playing for Chennai Super Kings in IPL has expressed his disappointment over the selectors for not picking spinners who can turn the ball instead of picking some guys who don’t spin the ball.
India have showed a lot of trust In Washington Sundar in the T20Is where the off-spinner has done a descent job so far in whatever opportunities he got. He bowls the tough overs of power play where only 2 fielders are allowed outside the circle. He is also a useful batsman down the order as he opens the batting for his state team in limited overs format.
The turbanator has directly attacked the selectors for not picking consistent performers in domestic cricket.
There is a spinner named Jalaj Saxena (347 FC wickets and 6334 FC runs). They just refuse to consider him. He has been bowling superbly for so many seasons. Wakhare (279 wickets in 83 FC games) is a consistent bowler but no one looks at him. And then you say, spinners are getting lost in Indian cricket. He must have done something good for Vidarbha to have won the Ranji Trophy twice.
He also said that the selectors pick some guy called Sundar who doesn’t even spin the ball and getting consistent chances which he doesn’t understand it.
They pick this guy called Washington Sundar, who doesn’t even spin the ball. I just don’t get it. Why don’t you encourage a bowler who bowls genuine spin, who can lure the batsman out and have him stumped. If Washington can bat a bit, so can Jalaj, who is also a proper spinner.
The statements made by Harbhajan didn’t go well with the fans as they trolled the off-spinner to the core.
