Ferguson’s first challenge on the touchline will be against an in-form Chelsea unit who is fresh from a 2-1 win over Aston Villa and is fourth on the table with 29 points.
Everton has to register a series of wins in order to save their season as they currently dangle at the bottom half of the table with 14 points on board.
Match Details
Date- Saturday, December 7 | Kick-Off- 6:00 PM (IST) | Venue- Goodison Park
Everton
Djibril Sidibe had a disappointing outing against Liverpool as Seamus Coleman might get an opportunity to start ahead of him on Saturday. Theo Walcott was spotted on the bench against Liverpool and could be made available in the starting eleven after his recent recovery. Fabian Delph, Cuco Martina, Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Andre Gomes are ruled out due to injuries.
Chelsea
Antonio Rudiger has returned to training and is expected to start for Frank Lampard. Ross Barkley’s illness still makes him a doubt to start. Lampard will have to decide between Marcos Alonso or Emerson to come in as full-backs. Tammy Abraham was once again forced off the field after sustaining a knock against Villa and is in doubt of featuring against Everton. Jorginho should be returning to the lineup, while Mason Mount or Callum Hudson Odoi could come in place of the injured Willian.
Everton- Pickford; Digne, Keane, Holgate, Sidibé; Iwobi, Sigurdsson, Schneiderlin, Walcott; Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison
Chelsea- Arrizabalaga; Azpilicueta (c), Zouma, Christensen, James; Kovačić, Kanté; Pulisic, Mount, Willian; Abraham
Richarlison scored has recently been amongst the goals for Everton and would be a threat while leading the attack for the Toffees. The Brazillian has five goals and two assists from 15 league games so far.
Christian Pulisic has been impressive for Chelsea after a slow start to the season. The USA international has five goals and two assists with a pass accuracy of 82% from 12 appearances.
Bernard has shown signs of quality but has been fairly inconsistent for Everton this season. However, under a new manager, the 27-year-old could start fresh and add to his tally of two goals and one assist from 9 appearances this season.
Tammy Abraham if fit will always pose a problem to any defence. The young English centre forward has 11 goals and three assists to his name from 14 league games for Chelsea this season.
Considering that Everton might enter the ground with a fresher perspective, we might get to see some fight from their end. However, Chelsea might have just enough quality to get a win by the end of 90 minutes.
