There’s lot of things said about the pitch at MCG in the previous test. Only 24 wickets in 5 days doesn’t indicate a good wicket. SCG on the other hand will host a test after so long. There’s some grass on the pitch right now, but spinners will get help, too.
Apart from the pitch, both the teams enjoyed their batting. With ball slow and not enough bouce, it was easy to bat. For England, The biggest plus was Cook getting his form back and scoring a pile of the runs.
The match ended up in a draw, and there were not many things for the bowlers to work with. Australia missed Starc here and there, and Root still had all his hopes pinned on Anderson.
Despite already losing the Ashes, England, once again will come out and play for the pride. They have shown that they can, it’s just a matter of execution. Australia still not taking things lightly and will give everything to win.
