The restrictions that were on place all around the world due to the corona virus pandemic have been slowly lifted in various parts of the world as the countries believe that they have the situation under control. Since the lockdown has been lifted, the cricketing boards are working in full force to resume the cricket as soon as possible.
If everything goes well, West Indies are set to tour to England for a 3 test series starting on the first week of July. The WICB have agreed to tour and play the series which comes under the world test championship.
The concussion substitutes is a very well known concept which was implemented by the ICC last year. This move was welcomed by many experts around the world and even the teams and cricket boards were happy with this rule. Now with corona virus threat looming large, the England cricket board have asked the ICC for substitutes for corona virus in their upcoming series against Pakistan and West Indies.
ECB director Steve Elworthy said to British Media that ICC is yet to agree to their proposal of covid-19 replacement but they are hopeful of it.
I know there are still some considerations from an ICC perspective about a covid-19 replacement. This is specifically for test cricket, and we would hope that would be in place well before the test series starts in July
The matches are set to happen in bio-secure venues which both the boards have agreed upon.
As all the domestic competitions in England have been suspended till the 1st of July, the ECB have asked a total of 55 cricketers to take part in the training camp ahead of the arduous English summer. The discarded right hand opener in Alex Hales was the noticeable exclusion from the list along with Liam Plunkett.
