This, of course, is just the preliminary round of the big battle that we all await. While the ODI and Test series remain highly anticipated, the T20I series is not far behind. The first T20I was an eye opener for hosts as they were mesmerized by the wrist spin of Kuldeep Yadav. They were in store for further punishment as KL Rahul blasted them out.
England batted first and had a flying start as Buttler and Jason Roy raced to 50 runs in the first five overs. Jos Buttler maintained his fine form and kept finding boundaries regularly. After the openers, the rest of the English batting line-up folded. Apart from David Willey, no one else could reach double figures. Chris Jordan and Adil Rashid bowled economically and kept India under pressure but it wasn’t enough.
Indian performance was exemplary. Kuldeep Yadav led the bowling attack and sliced through the English batting line-up like a hot knife through butter. The batsmen failed to read Kuldeep and were unable to put him away. The left-arm spinner picked up five wickets for just 24 runs. The batting reply was dominated by KL Rahul who showed his IPL form and smacked his second T20I century to take India to the victory.
Leading into this match, India will have the upper hand and England will have to figure out how to face Kuldeep Yadav.
