Two teams who notched up victories in their opening games will be facing off against each other in the next North Group game which will be played at the County Ground in Derby. Here, we are talking about the hosts Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire who will be clashing for the first time this season.
Derbyshire Falcons opening game was against Northamptonshire whom they thumped by 53 runs. Billy Godleman led the charge for the Falcons with a terrific 87 from 124 deliveries, whereas, Matthew Critchley was a surprise package with the bat scoring an unbeaten 64 from 51 deliveries. The duo helped Derbyshire post a formidable 268 on the board which proved way too much for Northamptonshire in the end.
Nottinghamshire in their opening game were involved in a run-fest against Lancashire which saw 823 runs scored in a day. Batting first, the Nottinghamshire scored a massive 417 courtesy a blazing 139 from 99 deliveries which included 17 fours and 5 massive sixes. Tom Moores, Ben Slater and Luke Fletcher were the others who join the party with half-centuries to their name.
In reply, Lancashire’s chase was led by Steven Croft’s 110 and skipper Dane Vilas’s 166 from 100 deliveries. The duo were explosive in their approach but couldn’t their side over the line as they fell 11 runs short of what could have been an impossible chase.
