A very good news coming towards the associate nations is the latest press release by ACC that stated that the Asia cup might just go ahead if not for the T20 world cup that is scheduled for the October month in Australia. The global tournament which was supposed to happen after 4 years might not go ahead as per planned which could just pave way for the all important Asia cup.
The associate nations will be more than welcoming this news as this tournament will give them a good revenue with which they can manage the loss incurred during this covid-19 period.

The Board emphasised on the importance of holding the Asia Cup 2020. In light of the impact and consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, possible venue options for the Asia Cup 2020 were discussed and it was decided to take the final decision in due course

This edition of Asia cup which was scheduled to take place just before the ICC WT20 in September was supposed to take place in the cricket crazy nation in Pakistan but due to the political tensions between India and Pakistan, the BCCI refused to travel to Pakistan which meant that ACC had no other choice but to move the tournament to UAE.
The Asia cup was initially planned as a T20 tournament because of the WT20 that had scheduled to follow so that the players will get accustomed to the T20 format before the all important tournament but since the WT20 might be cancelled, one has to wait and see how this will impact the format of the Asia cup.
