Delhi Capitals will face off Kings XI Punjab in the second match of Indian Premier League 2020 in Dubai tomorrow. Shreyas Iyer’s Delhi side will look for a winning start. Strengths :
Delhi Capitals’ major strength is their batting line up. Opening pair of Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw did very well last season and once again they will have to give good start. In the middle order they have Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant and Shimron Hetmyer who will play anchor as well as finishers’ role and in lower order Axar Patel, Harshal Patel, Daniel Sams and Keemo Paul who all are handy with bat. In the bowling Kagiso Rabada and R Ashwin will take the responsibility and the likes of Amit Mishra, Axar Patel, Avesh Khan, Mohit Sharma or Ishant Sharma are there to support them. Overall they have covered all their bases and will give good fight to other teams.
On the other hand, Kings XI Punjab’s strength is also their batting as they have KL Rahul, Chris Gayle, Nicolas Pooran and Glenn Maxwell who all prefer attacking batting and have the capabilities to change the game from any position. The likes of Mayank Agarwal, Karun Nair, Deepak Hooda and Sarfraz Khan too are there to play useful knocks and in the bowling they have a spin dominated attack of K Gowtham, Mujeeb ur Rahman, Ravi Bishnoi and Murugan Ashwin. Weaknesses :
Delhi Capitals’ one of the weakness is the absence of an experienced finisher as they don’t have anyone at the lower order who can score quick runs and in that case Rishabh Pant has to play this role and neither they have any specialist pacer of this format so all the pressure will be on Kagiso Rabada in the death overs as Ishant Sharma struggles in death.
On the other hand, Kings XI Punjab don’t have a reliable batsman apart from KL Rahul so whenever some quick wickets fall they will be in big trouble and in the bowling Sheldon Cottrell and Mohammad Shami aren’t consistent with their bowling and most of the other pacers are inexperienced so all the pressure will be on Chris Jordan in death overs.
