David Warner and Pat Cummins have been ruled out of AUS vs IND ODI and T20I series, Cricket Australia announced on Monday. Opening batsman David Warner suffered a groin injury during the 2nd ODI at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Sunday.
The opening batsman had to go for scans immediately after trying to save a single from the bat of India opener Shikhar Dhawan and suffering injury. Left-handed top-order batman D’Arcy Short has been named as the replacement n AUS ODI squad ahead of the third and final ODI of the three-match series.
There are no injury concerns for Pat Cummins and the fast bowler has been given rest. Cummins has on cricket assignments since September, with Australia’s tour of England and IPL 2020 thereafter. No replacement has been named for Pat Cummins.
“Pat and Davie are critical to our plans for the Test series. Davie will work through his injury rehab and in Pat’s case it is important all of our players are managed well to keep them mentally and physically fit throughout what is a challenging summer. The priority for both is being fully prepared for one of the biggest and most important home Test series we have played in recent years, especially with World Test Championship points up for grabs,” said Australia coach Justin Langer.
