West Indies legend Brian Lara has picked favourites for the upcoming T20 World Cup in a recent interview with ESPNCricinfo. When asked how the sides are shaping ahead for the mega ICC tournament, Brian Lara said,
“I think India is going to be a force to reckon with. Australia at home… it’s not going to be an easy World Cup for anyone. Australia is going to be worried about India and the West Indies, West Indies are going to be worried about everybody because of their inconsistency sometimes. So it’s going to be a great World Cup to look at.”
India won the inaugural edition in 2007 while West Indies have won the T20 World Cup twice. The hosts Australia will be looking to win their first trophy.
Brian Lara was of the opinion that West Indies have the best man at the helm for the upcoming event.
“Kieron Pollard has been around for quite some time. I remember his first game was 2007 for the World Cup. Obviously, he’s played a lot of franchise cricket around the world and I think the experience he has gained under different captains…he has captained teams in franchise cricket around the world, he brings a lot of experience.”
Brian Lara is currently playing for the West Indies legends in Road Safety World Series in Mumbai.
