Boxing Day Test: Cricket Australia have named a replacement for injured Josh Hazlewood for the Boxing Day Test against New Zealand. The 35-year old quick, Peter Siddle has been called up.

Justin Langer provided the update

“Peter Siddle helped us retain the Ashes, he’s got over 200 test wickets, he’s a ripping person around the team. For the Boxing Day test match he just seemed like the simple solution,” told Aussie coach Justin Langer.

“We selected James Pattinson and Michael Neser, they both haven’t played yet. They’ll be in front of him. That’s about the consistency of selection. I’d say James or Michael or both of them will definitely play that test match,” added Langer.

Langer on bowling combination for Boxing Day Test

Langer said that they are considering four pace bowlers and offspinner Nathan Lyon for the 2nd test. The reason he told is the pitch behaviour in recent years had favoured batsmen and they would play and extra bowler for the same.

Australia Test Squad
