After a quiet start on day 2, Team India stormed back in the third Test against Australia by claiming quick wickets on either side of lunch. Pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah was the chief architect of this Aussie batting collapse as he sent back Cameron Green and Tim Paine in quick succession. Bumrah’s magic with the ball was best reflected in Aussie skipper Tim Paine’s dismissal. The Indian pacer castled Paine with absolute beauty.
Bumrah removed C Green on the last ball before lunch and hene after lunch T Paine arrived at the crease with a massive responsibility of stabilizing the Australian innings.
However, Bumrah had other ideas. He kept on probing the Aussie batsman with his impeccable line and lengths. He bowled a maiden over to Paine and kept him guessing about the pace and bounce of the ball. And in the next over, he bowled the knock-out punch.
You can see the video of Tim Paine’s dismissal here:
Bowling from over the wicket, Bumrah pitched the ball on the good length, inviting Paine for a drive. And then he moved the ball in significantly to find the gap between bat and pad. Paine was beaten all ends up and the ball crashed on his stumps.
Australia began the day 2 of the third Test with solid performance. S Smith and M Labuschagne continued to bat well and put India under pressure. However, spin bowler Ravindra Jadeja broke the dangerous partnership as he removed Labuschagne on 91. Matthew Wade then couldn’t resist hitting Jadeja and was caught at mid-on on Jadeja’s bowling on 13 runs.
And then Bumrah roared back with the new ball. He caught C Green in front of the stumps on the last ball before lunch and then removed Aussie skipper T Paine with a beauty in the next session. Australia went down to 6 down for 255 from a strong position of 2 down for 206.
Meanwhile, Steve Smith is back in form. The right-hand batsman has looked firm and has kept one end strong by slamming yet another Test match hundred.
