The Ford Trophy is rushing to its end and this is the third match for all the teams in the last five days. After this game, each team will play only one more match hence it will be a crucial encounter. Both Auckland and Northern Knights are in the middle of the table and we are all set for an exciting day. Auckland defeated NK by two wickets when they met the last time.
After the first three losses, NK gathered steam and have stitched together four consecutive wins under their belt. In their last match against Otago, they completed a comprehensive win of seven wickets. Despite Brett Randell (3 wickets) and Zak Gibson’s (2 wickets) best efforts, Otago scored 292 runs in their first inning. NK Captain Dean Brownlie made a fabulous 110 and with assistance from B Popli and N Kelly, they coasted to a seven-wicket win.
Auckland cruised to a four-wicket win over Central Districts in their last game. McClenaghan-Lister-McEwan picked three wickets each and halted the stags for 226 runs only. In the chase, Auckland stumbled from 121/1 to 136/5. Graeme Beghin scored a not out 56 to take the team home.
