The first match in the year of 2019 sees Auckland Aces playing against Canterbury Kings. Auckland’s second match was washed out while Canterbury played their last match on 23rd December.
Auckland has won the only match they have played as their first home match was rained away. Aces bowlers ran through the Central Stags lineup and got them all out for only 107 runs. Somerville picked three wickets while Quinn-Ferguson-Hira took two each. Martin Guptill played a pivotal role in the chase with a towering 71 while others failed. Auckland ultimately won by 5 wickets. They have bundled together with a great unit of players and will be favorites to win this game.
Playing against Otago, Canterbury raised a score of 184/5 batting first. Stephen Murdoch top-scored with 54 while Chad Bowes and Kyle Jamieson gave great support. McConchie bowled superb but other bowlers were miserable. Nuttall conceded 53 in 3.3 overs that included three wides. Canterbury lost by five wickets.
