Afghanistan and Scotland will be squaring off in a two-match ODI series which is scheduled to take place from 8th of May 2019. Afghanistan will look to find their feet under a new skipper Gulbadin Naib who is in charge of this side for the upcoming World Cup as well.
On the other hand, Scotland who hasn’t got a World Cup berth after they failed to do well in the World Cup qualifiers last year will be playing their first ODI since June 2018. Talking about the rankings of both these sides, Afghanistan after doing really well in the last two or three years have earned the 7th ranking, whereas, Scotland are ranked 12th in the ICC ODI Rankings.
Scotland have made some changes in their set-up for this series with uncapped seamer Gavin Main gets a call-up into the national side along with off-spinner Tom Sole and pacer Brad Wheal also joining the 14-man squad. The trio of Ruaidhri Smith, Adrian Neill and Stu Whittingham will miss-out from the squad owing to injuries.
With this series being only for 2 matches, both teams will not afford any lapse in their preparations and performance and an early lead will definitely help the team’s cause.
