2019 had been an incredible year for cricket fans all around the world. A World Cup final that went down to the super over, Inaugural World test championship, a fiery Ashes series, highly competitive T20 competitions around the world just to name a few. Many players light up these tournaments and various other matches in 2019, from which we bring you 5 cricketer who accomplished the most in 2019.

  1. Ben Stokes

If cricket 2019 had a face, it has to be none other than Ben Stokes. What we saw in 2019 was his resurgence, after the ghost of the 2016 T20 World Cup final. His calm and composed innings in the world cup final helped his team eventually, which was stumbling at that point to beat a spirited New Zealand side to claim the world cup. He made the almost impossible possible in the Headingley test match, where he single-handedly took England to a historic test victory to help them keep their Ashes hopes alive.

Stokes was awarded the prestigious BBC sporting personality of the year award for his performance in 2019. Ben Stokes in 2019 will be cricketing folklore that will go on for years to come.

  1. Steve Smith

What stood between arguably one of the greatest English sides of all time and the prestigious Ashes Urn was one man ‘Steven Peter Devereux Smith’. Coming into the side after serving a one year ban due to the sandpaper gate incident, he scored 774 runs in 4 tests( 7 innings) at Bradmanesque average of 110.57 which led to people comparing him to the great ‘Sir Don Bradman’, an achievement every cricketer would dream of.

  1. Kane Williamson

If cricket is a gentleman’s game, then it has found its new ambassador in 2019 in Kane Williamson. He was the man of the tournament of 2019 world cup wherein he scored 578 runs at an average of 82.57. Not to take away his batting performances, but his major achievement this year was the sporting conduct and discipline that he and his teammates showed after a controversial world cup final.

  1. Pat Cummins

Standing tall at 898 points, this Aussie fast bowler is 59 points ahead of the number two ranked KagisoRabada in ICC test rankings.  In August 2019 he reached a mammoth 914 points in ICC test rankings which is the joint 5th greatest of all time.He has carried the major workload of the Aussie fast bowling unit and is the only bowler to cross 50 test wickets in 2019.

  1. Rohit Sharma

He had an astonishing 2019 wherein(as of now) he has scored 1268 runs with 6 hundred and 5 fifties in ODI’s alone and he even finished as the leading runscorer of the 2019 World Cup. Known for his fearless white-ball heroics, he carried on his limited-overs form to the test cricket as well in 2019 scoring 529 runs at an average of 132.25 in his first series after being promoted to the opening spot. He also led Mumbai Indians to a record 4th title win this year.
